democracy in nigeria my mother land

my country nigeria,
home to over 120 million blacks
i cry for thee.
years of tomoil untold,
seeming hope we had
when came democracy after
2decades of brutish kaki rule.

but democracy you seem
to us death, and i dare
to ask -where is thy sting.

we were told it
was the end of travails
the dawn of a new begining
haven for the masses,
and with the heart of a baby
we belived all hook line and sinker.
today 5 years after we
still groan under the yoke
of brutish rule.

but democracy you seem
to us death, and i dare
to ask -where is thy sting.

peharps we the masses
are still under kaki rule
why some selected
"egg heads" who enjoy
the largies of democracy
are the ones who can say
we have democracy to day.

but democracy you seem
to us death, and i dare
to ask -where is thy sting.

a lost generation we are,
doomed i cant say,
whether we live
i cant say,
whether we exist
may be,
to the future
the horizon looks bleak
my country nigeria
what hope?

but democracy you seem
to us death, and i dare
to ask -where is thy sting.
